water pump blips

My water pump blips for half a second every 15-30 minutes. I found every fitting I can at faucets, water heater, pump, toilet, and they are all bone dry. Its really starting to annoy me, cause I cant find any leak, and the system has always been properly winterized.

Any suggestions? I even looked at my city water inlet port, and after taking off the plug it was moist, but no discernible leak.

When mine did that, I had a slow leak in the backcheck valve on the shore water inlet.
  • Easy to take care of, just turn the switch off till you need it.
  • Pump blipping is a normal happening in most RV'ers life. Sometimes it last for an hr or 3, sometimes it last for a week or 3. You have a choice, either pretend you don't hear it, and one day you'll all of a sudden realize that you haven't heard it in how long ??
Or you can waste a bunch of time looking for it, and afterward have it quit for no apparent reason.
I have had it happen dozens of times in 40+ yrs, and it doesn't ever concern me.
  • One thing for sure....you have a leak. Small one and one that can be very tough to actually locate.

I couldn't find one years ago.
Tried laying toilet paper down under fittings, toilet valve.....nothing.

Finally found source when we were in an area that had very hard water..white deposits on a fitting in basement compartment.

As mentioned.....could be pumps internal check valve leaking.......you can install a in-line check valve in pump suction line

    Toilet dripping water into bowl

    Fitting with a drip etc.

Possibly it's the check valve in the pump leaking slightly and allowing the water to work its way back into the fresh water tank. Taking it apart and cleaning it may solve the problem in that case.

It could also be weeping from the water heater's safety valve.
  • Could be the check valve in the pump, could be a slight leak in your fill valve or could be a hidden small leak in the basement or other place where it is not easily identified.
