OP description of the problem is unclear at best.
Sounds to me if you leave the pump switch on, like you're supposed to, there would be no problem.
Leaving the pump on, if there is a leak on either side of the pump, check valve or whatever, the pump would cycle. If it does, there is a leak, probably back into the tank. If it doesn't, there is no problem.
W/o using any water, my pump does cycle now and then. Must be a check valve leaking back to the tank. It doesn't hurt anything, so I don't consider it to be a problem. If it ever starts cycling often enuff to get anoying, I will fix it.
