Water pump

This winter I winterized and pumped RV Antifreeze through the system. When we were getting ready for this trip. I flushed the system and put water in the tank.
Now the pump runs but does not shut off. I tried to prime it like when winterizing but would not pick up the water. I gravity fed it to prime it and the water ran through the pump and into the tank.

If there was a leak I think I would of noticed it in the last week on the road.

I suspect I need a new pump. But I though I'd better check with the world of wisdom first.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Ross

  • 1st paragraph, last sentence. Your fresh water tank fill valve may be open and causing pump pressure side to go to inlet side making water go in circles and not pressurizing coach fixtures. This also will fill fresh water tank when attached to city water. Have you used city water this last week?

Check if you closed the line that you drew the antifreeze with. If that is still open you will not be able to pick up prime. You need also to open the line from your FW tank to the pump

I've done it before and still need to double check myself

This is my guess. I have done this.
  • Some times a pump will air lock. Try opening a faucet then turn pump on to see if that helps and water flows.
