As usual, the answer is somewhere in the middle. You will find people who have had damage when welding was done on their RV. It's likely that the ground was not cleaned and was poorly selected in those cases, but who knows for sure. I tend to agree with SDcampowneroperator, but if you weld once a year, the time it takes to disconnect the battery is probably worth it for peace of mind. I don't disconnect anything, but I always select the position of the ground carefully and I hit it with a grinder to get good clean contact. I also prefer to do my welding in the Spring - before I reconnect my battery system. :)
