Wet and dry bulb comfort measurements

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wet-bulb_temperature

Wet bulb, dry bulb comfort measurement.

Wrap the wet bulb thermometer with cheesecloth.

Blow a fan across the bulb.

This is the lowest temperature that evaporative cooling can achieve at that point in time. A very useful tool.

One way. in fact the most accurate way. to measure humidity requires a dual bulb (one wet one dry) thermometer a piece of string and a book.

You start by slinging the thing around for a bit.
Read both thermometers and note the temps
Look the dry temp up in the book then the wet and where the two cross

    HUMIDITY.

Just get a sling psychrometer, (Amazon} I used them at work to determine the wet bulb temp. That's what the 'Feels Like' temp comes from. It's done electronically now, my indoor-outdoor thermometer does it with no slinging. This old tech....heh.

  • Only way I survived summers at Ft. Irwin was to keep my uniform wet. Didn’t know the science...did know the relief.
  • So true. 28 1/2 years Aeographers Mate. It gets trickey when temp gets below freezing.
