I've got two of the Mini voltmeters very similar to what RJ posted, on my Dashboard. One for engine and one for house battery, even though i can use either battery for wither duty at the turn of a switch
Except I bought the 3 wire versions. I put the 3rd sense wire directly on the battery(+), and then used the calibration screw to dial them in with my DMM on the battery terminals too. These come on only with my ignition. if I had only the 2 wire models I could not wire them directly to the battery(+) unless I wanted them on all the time, or wanted to manually switch them on or off.
If I wired a 2 wire voltmeter to come on with my ignition, then it would not be reading battery voltage but the voltage at the circuit I tapped into which is live with the Key ON. Less accurate.
I bought the green ones. Way too bright at nighttime on my dashboard. I used 2 layers of 35% window tint to calm them down. Can still easily see them in daytime.
I am going to replace them with Red 3 wire voltmeters as the rest of my Dashboard lighting is red.
I spent about 7$ for the 3 wire versions on Amazon, but they get here in 2 days.
