What are the two taps in my kitchen ?

I know what the taps do but i have one that has the type that you pull up on the one and only handle and move it left or right for the hot and or cold temp water.. but i also have a smaller tap just beside it with a push down lever (black plastic) and cold water comes out... is this a tap for Cold water only and why would we need two taps.. rather than just using the main tap and only allowing the cold water to come out?

Thanks,

Dave

Usually the cold only will have a filter unit under the sink.

    Check for it.
  • Usually it's for either hand or dish soap - liquid, whichever you want.
  • i would bet on filtered water, i have the same setup in my dolphin.
  • Filtered water. It could be an Insta-Hot as well that's not plugged in or getting power. I suspect if you look under the sink you will be able to trace the line a short distance to the filter or other device.
  • I'd say filtered water too. I just replaced my kitchen faucet and it does have a separate small handle and a smaller screened opening for a filtered line.
  • Filtered water maybe?
Or, RV's used to come with a hand pump faucet in case the pump quit.
