Here is how my house batteries are charged;
I have a LARGE constant duty solenoid that will connect the positive lead drom the house batteries to the positive lead of the house batteries.
While driving down the road a circuit in my electrical panel will check the voltage of the chassis batteries, if they meet a set voltage then the solenoid is energised connecting both house and chassis batteries. House batteries get charged while driving down the road.
When I first purchased the rig I found out real quick that the solenoid needed replaced. The contacts where not making a good connection so I replaced the solenoid.
I also have an AUX START switch on the dash that also energises the solenoid. If my chassis batteries are low to the point where I can't start the engine I can hold that Aux. Start button, it connects both banks thus giving the chassis batteries the juice to crank the main engine. You have to hold this button down for a couple of minutes B4 trying to start.
