Roof is done for now but Im not sure if the Proflex will stick to the Silicon if that's what it is. I guess I will find out.
That is the problem with silicone. It works great, but if you ever have to re-do it, you are in a world of hurt. Nothing sticks to silicone, even more silicone. - NRALIFRExplorerI like OSI Quad around the house and on the RV.
I’ll share a tip with you on preserving open tubes of caulk as well. Some caulks keep quite well after opening with just a rubber cap on them. Others will harden up once opened even with a cap. I have a bunch of these plastic bottles available that I use for various things. I cut the neck off, leaving a hole that the caulk tube fits in snugly. If the caulk is water cleanup, I put a couple inches of water in the bottle and turn the open tube of caulk upside down in it. If it’s a solvent cleanup type, like OSI Quad, I put a few ounces of mineral spirits in the bottle.
A couple of these tubes have been opened for over a year, and they are still useable.
:):) - T18skyguyExplorerOne thing I recently learned is that caulking has an expiration date. I did a real nice caulking job around a tub, and it never dried. I did it over with a new tube no problem.
A caulking called " Through the Roof" is excellent and will never crack, but I don't know if it's ok for RV's. GE Climeaclear is a good one for RV's so I've been told. - MURPHY55347ExplorerWinnebago calls out Stone Mason gutter and siding caulk for all exterior body seams. It is not used on the roof. Stays pliable but does not attract dirt. Only place I have found this is direct from Winnebago. Appears to be only sold in Canada now. A substitute is Nuflex 640 or Hengs 96600. Hengs has bought out Nuflex. Roof call out if for Nuflex 311.

Sikaflex-221 White 10.1 fl. oz. Cartridge
Comes in different colors.
I have been in the construction industry for over 40 years. I have used many of the Sika products that are state and federally approved and without a doubt it is the best product on the market. Amazon is selling it. - mike-sExplorerSikaflex 221. I tried Geocel Proflex RV last year - it's harder to work with and stays sticky for a long time, attracting dirt.
For opened tubes - push a golf tee into the open end, then cover that with some plastic wrap held on with a rubber band wrapped around. Works great. - HadEnoughExplorer

Depends on the job you are doing and if you need to easily remove hardware later, etc.
Nothing wrong with silicone for glazing purposes.
Usually use 3m products in general.
I agree. Silicone has it's place even in the RV world. I use Sikaflex products myself.
That's some quality stuff. I use that in the marine world. - SpridleExplorerI like Sikaflex 1a as my favorite no-sag calk.

I use DAP Adhesive Caulk and have for over 10 years. There are 3 versions DAP makes. 1. Comes out white(so you can make sure you have filled the area gap) and dries crystal clear. SO CLEAR, that I have had customers complain I did NOT seal the areas I sealed and I had to poke it with a pen to show them it is sealed. 2. CLEAR 3. WHITE.
This is an ADHESIVE CAULK and will adhere to almost anything except a EPDM/TPO roof which you would not use this product on the roof anyway. I use it to bond wood panels inside the RV and other things that need a ADHESIVE. It bonds to the Plastic/fiberglass shower walls and will bond to Glass. I have not used Silicone sealant since I found this DAP product. Doug
PS, It does NOT flow like silicone, it is smoother and not as lumpy as silicone.

I'm with Doug on this one. I also use DAP on anything but EPDM.
For EPDM I like Sikaflex 221. Never had it crack.
Richard - 72cougarxr7ExplorerThanks for the suggestions everyone!
