The type with a strong odor, like contact cement, is what I would use if wanted to hurt EPDM.
I guess if it smells strong, there is enough solvents in there to hurt EPDM. Urethane and latex glues is the way to go if they don't want to buy a 5 gallon EPDM adhesive.

Why not contact Dicor or a RV service center and try to get the right glue for this job. Wish you were in my area as I have almost a gallon left from the time I replaced my roof.

I have used the Weld wood contact adhesive from HD, Loews and Walmart on rubber with good success. I is cheap and you can use it for other jobs. Remember there is no load on this bond line so you don't need a high strength adhesive, just something that will adhere to rubber and the substrate.

Not to use it, but they do make an adhesive silicone, in fact aquarium (same as marine) silicone is very adhesive,.....and toxic.

Whatever you do, do not use a silicone anything. It is not an adhesive

Have to correct myself - Freesole is not a few oz, but 1 oz. Costs $7. Exterior rated. REI sells it under the name of Aquaseal. Perfect for shoe repair as well.

Use the exterior carpet glue that RJ recommended. It has to be rated for exterior application.

Aquaseal aka Freesole. Sold in camping/kayaking stores, REI etc. Sticks to rubber and rubber-ish surfaces and to plywood. $6 for a few oz tube. Or any other urethane glue.

Manufacturers probably use a decent adhesive but don't put enough adhesive under the rubber, or don't spread it well, or - most likely - don't press the rubber firmly to the entire surface of plywood for 8-10 hours required to cure. So air pockets are left. Don't repeat their mistake and make sure to press it firmly overnight with a piece of 2x4 etc. Put a piece of polyethylene grocery bag between the rubber and the weight, otherwise the weight will glue to the rubber.
