Maybe some of the screws could not be removed due to the plastic melting; could be that parts of the case fused to other parts of the plastic case.
Besides, the guy is trying to get it apart so he can disconnect the device and get his electricity flowing again. No need to deduct points for the particular disassembly method of an already failed device.
