So Progressive, because they've denied the OP's claim, sells yet another brand new one to him? Hmmmm, win - win ... for Progressive. :R4x4van wrote:
I think quite a few here are neglecting the fact that the OP's unit was 7 years old, and had only a 3 year warranty, not lifetime. How is Progressive the bad guy here? They're not "denying" warranty coverage; the warranty expired 4 years ago.
Where did I say Progressive is the "bad guy" here? ... I'm merely pointing out the irony of the situation. I too read mike-s's post back on Page 4 where he pointed out that the OP's particular EMS, purchased in 2009, likely had a 3 yr warranty that has long expired anyway. I'm not arguing the point, just making an observation that no matter how you cut it Progressive wins. Frankly, with so many limitations in their current "limited" lifetime warranty I'm not sure Progressive wouldn't also deny the OP's claim if he was making it on a newer unit with a "lifetime warranty". Seems to me the new owners are taking a much more strict stance on warranty claims than used to be the case. Regardless, one thing is certain - as word of this new policy spreads Progressive's reputation in the market is sure to take a hit. Maybe they care, maybe they don't, but it's nonetheless an unfortunate turn of events.
This is 2017 The new Progressive won't mind if there reputation taking a hit if their profit goes up due to fewer warranty claims.
