And what generates heat in one of those boxes? A switch, a receptacle? Not the same thing as an EMS.

And how often does a receptacle or switch have a bad connection that would generate heat? Besides, wiring devices don't employ set screws like the the OP's contactor.
It's not about the box being plastic, it's about protecting the components inside and maximizing their life.
