On Page 10 he finally posted a pic of where he installed this EMS, which sure looks to me like it was inside a sealed cabinet. :E Earlier there was discussion about the wisdom of mounting electronics in a plastic box, as Progressive has done with it's EMS products, but I've never had any overheating issues with either of the EMS units I've owned (one TRC, one Progressive). However, the difference is mine have never been installed inside a closed box (as seems to be the case here) which offers no ability to vent out any warm or hot air created by the EMS. Now that we have a pic of where the OP's EMS was installed this may well be a case where he's created his own problem, this not being a sudden catastrophic failure but more likely a cumulative failure caused by constant overheating over a long period of time. Years operating in a closed environment without venting out hot air, it's not surprising this EMS finally melted. If that's the case re-installing a new one would logically only eventually lead to the same result. To the OP - if you're going to install any type of EMS inside your rig you need to provide some means of ventilation for it - mine is under the sofa, sitting on the street side wheel well where air can freely move around the unit and it's never been anything but slightly warm to the touch.

I have had 3 different PI EMS-HW30's mounted in an enclosed space, on 3 different hybrids, and have not had any problems with heat. But then again I followed the Progressive Industries installation instructions which mention nothing about heat, nor mounting inside an enclosed space as in don't do it, and not internet forum opinions and fear mongering. Currently mine is mounted under the fridge in an enclosed dead space roughly 2' X 2' by about 16" high behind the converter which is mounted in the cabinet face below the fridge front.

If you want to be scared, be scared of the factory wiring at the main breaker, and shore power cord or shore power cord connector at the sidewall. On our 2017 Rockwood (30 AMP) the 10/2 Romex from shore power to AC side of the converter was loose at the Furrion wall mounted connector and had arced, and over-torqued at the main breaker resulting in stripping the lug and smashing the conductor as flat as a pancake. So much so that when I moved the wire while installing the EMS both Hot and Neutral broke right off.
