What's the fridge flame supposed to look like ?

Here's mine:

I don't think it should look like this. I haven't had it out yet but the visible top is clean and I just gave it a compressor blowout with no improvement.

Adjust the air inlet - needs more air for the normal blue flame.

And just where is this air inlet adjustment?
  • Start by removing and cleaning the burner tube. Quite likely it has dirt and/or rust obstructing air/gas flow.

It is just a part of the annual burner area tune-up your absorption refrigerator needs.
  • This is a pair I posted here a while back. This is my Deometic fridge.

    Good flame:

    Low flame:

  • That was what I was afraid you'all would say.. I may have to tough this out till I can get back home since the aluminum tube from the LP valve to the burner is corroded to the brass nuts on both ends. They're currently soaking in penetrating oil. Hopefully it's this and not a new cooling assy. BTW- That's a pretty flame ..

  • This is what my 17 year old fridge looks like AFTER running a tiny wire brush thru the tube and then blowing compressed air. My problem is that after a long bumpy ride, my flame looks a little bit yellow, and cooling stops. A quick squirt of compressed air upon arrival gets me back to true blue in under 2 minutes.
  • A chunk of something fell and is stuck in the burner ?
Also, is the flame kinda quiet ? It should be blue and a little noisy.
  • Way way way too much yellow check for obstructions in your line or something in the orfice.
