at this point i think i may just tweak my pm4b to a higher abs voltage... maybe not all the way up to 14.6, but perhaps somewhere in the middle? ......

Don't nibble at it! Do it the once to where it belongs and leave it be. Be very careful with the pot and get it to 14.8v bench test (no load except your voltage meter in the Dc terminals) I forget if it is counter clockwise to increase voltage or VV. It is very sensitive!
Put the lid back on and now you have a good 75amper charger that has Vabs of 14.8. (You no longer have a "four stage" converter. ) You are now in charge of shutting it off when you figure the batts are high enough. No automatic shut off. 14.8 is too high as a Float except at the North Pole in winter.
The Honda should run that 75amper in Eco no sweat. On a cold morning you might have to start the Honda eco-off, let it warm up a minute, then plug in the 75amper, hear the Honda gruntm a little, then turn Eco on. I have to do that with my 100amper and the 3000.
If for any reason the Honda conks out, do not fire it right back up and plug the 75er back in. Danger of blowing its in-rush thermistor which needs to cool off before you restart. Wait at least 1/2 hour IMO. I know that 10 minutes is too soon! :(
