Landyacht, you also have SG lag too. It will continue to rise after the charge has been removed so if you get close enough when equalizing, 9 times out of 10, you'll be right at your baseline a few hours after the EQ is done. If your SG stops rising, stop the EQ. Wait a few hours and check SG.
jrnymn7, batteries gas when charged. That's completely normal. 6V's will gas more because of the antimony content. You want the batteries to gas.
