would charging a 215a/h bank with a 75amp charger be o.k.? i've read various numbers... c/10, c/20. etc. i would think the batteries would limit the current, either way.
See my ugly graph of 70a on 220AH. Perfect.
Did you modify the 75amper? Does it still work? :)
Splitting the bank and alternating which pair is working and which is getting topped up is a good plan IMO. In winter you can use all four at once as required for furnace etc.
haven't done the mod yet... probably this weekend.
??? should i just plug it in without it hooked up to the batteries, and wait for it to do it's 15 minute boost, and then tweak it, or does it have to be hooked up to the batteries to work??? (i'm guessing the latter). thanks!
EDIT:
i do have a concern with the pm though. without getting into all the details and numbers, i did discharge the batts down to 11.9v / ~40% (i forget the sg readings, but they were well down in the charge zone.) i plugged in the pm4b and it never went into boost; instead it ran in abs (~13.67v) for about 9 hours, and then float. and yet i have since tried it several times with the batteries almost full, and it always does its 15 minute boost. i may have to do another deep discharge and try it again before modifying it, just to see if it's even working properly. if it's not, it's going back and getting replaced by something more appropriate for my needs.
