this one looks like it has a knob on the side?
...maybe they made a 12.5-15v and a 12.5-16.5v model???
... do any of these have the auto 15 minute boost?
There have been "generations" of these things over the last few years and you see older versions still for sale. PM PM3 PM4 etc. The PM4B is a Randy invention where B is for his term Boondocker. PM is fairly new on the market and moves fast as they learn what sells.
AFAIK the 15 min thing came in with the PM4, but might be in some later PM3s too not too clear on that, maybe just in PM3Bs if that.
The PMBC is designed for car showrooms for power supplies and not to be an RV converter. That is a big market apparently, where they do well.
You can take any RV deck mount converter and make it into a portable charger using a cut off end of jumper cables in its terminals. Just need the cables to be fat enough gauge for the amps at the length you have, and the clamps themselves to be rated for that many amps.
In the photo that is part of the 120v cord, not a knob on the side. You can't go by the photos. They use the same pic for all different models and sizes. Repeat--you would have to pin down the boatandrv guy in great detail to get the facts on just what he has there (assuming he knows!)
The PM guy told me they would need to sell a converter for $500 to have all the features everybody here wants, but the market is to supply RVs being built competing with $100 (at cost) WFCOs.
That $500 fits with what the charger portion of inverter/chargers cost that do have such features or similar chargers made by those companies. People like us are a small market, not to be confused with keeping a company alive in this economy! :)
