Please do it all again using that second pair. You want to see that 15.13ish last past the 15 min for a good while, then all being well, reduce your Vabs (as now thought to be) so your "boost" (as now thought to be) is 14.8 instead of 15.13ish. Maybe then it will do 14.8 till amps taper and stay at 14.8. Never know until you keep at it.
but that 15.13-18v was on near full batts, starting at 12.76v, and took place over just a few minutes. whereas, on 50% batts, at 12.21v, the (15 minute) 'boost' never got above 13.93, and the so-called 'abs' took hours just to get to 14.15v. so, if anything, i need to crank this thing up, no? and even then, it would still take hours to get up to a 14.8 vabs setting, whereas it's supposed to get there rather quickly, and then hold there while amps taper.
in fact this has changed since the mod. before, on low batts, it would not go into boost at all, but would quickly rise to its 13.67 vabs setting and hold there while amps tapered. but now it does boost for 15 minutes, re-assesses, and continues in boost? abs? who knows? all at a continually rising voltage while amps taper.
so as before, it's doing some weird combination of volts rising as amps taper, and in either case mod/no mod, the volts do seem limited to the vabs setting when doing a 50-90% charge, and the higher boost setting seems to be merely a means to an end to setting the desired abs voltage? (but then, i stand the chance of it deciding to come on full bore and frying itself and/or the batts).
i have done a few charges with the peak 40 amper since splitting the banks, and if possibly it's a problem with battery R, how is it the peak has been performing its profile o.k., and getting up to 14.8+ rather quickly during boost, and holding there throughout abs charge? this pm4b clearly has a profile/mind of its own. i think maybe i need to start a thread on pm4b's to see what others have experienced with theirs?
i will do the same test again on the other bank, just to compare, but i will be very surprised to see different/better results. in fact, out of the two pair of batts, i'd say the ones i already tested are the better of the two, based on previous sg readings.
