I charged with the peak 40 amper today, and although the lcd display said 14.8v, it was actually 15.13 at the batts, so probably more like 15.2v! No wonder my batts were boiling dry on hot days. And that would explain the high amperage readings deep into the charge.
The batts leveled out at 5.9a at 15.01v, so I hit them with the pm for about 2 1/2 hrs at 15.41v, and like last time, the amps rose while the volts were held steady... they went from 8.? to 11.9a at 15.41v.
The other bank with the two lesser batts have been resting at 12.82v.
