when should a powermax pm4b drop into float mode

I'm hoping to have everything hooked up somewhat permanently... with heavy duty terminal rings, not clamps. Actually, I had already done that with the Peak.

I also want to change the bolt and lock washer on the 2nd shunt post to a stud and nut.
