Where is the aux battery located on a 1994 Coach House 192TB

An old-time friend had a Coachman motorhome and did not want to run a lot of wiring from his understep battery. So he had a carpenter make a tiny box just to fit a meter pair and put a 45 degree angle on the face so he could look down and read the meter. His idea worked like a champ. Three and a half feet feet of wire.

The easiest simple check is to measure the voltage at the battery under various conditions. With no charging going on but a charged battery, it should be somewhere in the vicinity of 12.5 volts or a bit higher. When the converter is on (and the battery is basically charged), it should jump up to perhaps 13.3 to 14.5 volts, depending on the converter model and (if a multi-stage converter) what mode it's in. With the engine running, it should likewise be around 13+ volts with the alternator providing power.

For a more thorough check, you'd have to discharge it some and monitor the voltage and current from the charging sources...but a quick voltage check will at least tell you if the connections are in place and the system appears operational.

If you have one of the little four LED battery level indicators, the top LED might be off when the battery is not being charged but should be on if it is receiving a charge. These little indicators are not very precise or accurate; on mine, the top light is often on just from the battery power with a fully charged battery.

I purchased the deep cycle battery from Sam's Club on Saturday. When I got it home I hooked it up to the battery charger to make sure that it was completely charged. I installed the battery this afternoon (Sunday) in the rv and all the lights and the control panel were functioning.

Please advise oh how to test that the battery is getting the correct charge from the vehicle alternator and from the on board converter.

You definitely need a new battery.
Examining finances, frequency of camping, degree of working the battery (are you a light, medium or heavy user?) and method of recharging, should point you in a direction as to deciding a flooded battery or a sealed AGM battery would be the most intelligent choice.

Then you need to verify the battery is getting a correct charge from the vehicle alternator.

After that you need to verify the battery is getting a correct charge from the on board converter.

One step at a time and it will not be daunting.

Do you have a nearby HARBOR FREIGHT STORE? A twenty dollar handheld multimeter is going to be worth it's weight it gold. No worries. You will be using it at one single selected setting - DC voltage. But get the meter now. Later on you will have it and you will be guided here, step-by step how to use it. It is ultra easy. Even a carpenter can use a meter correctly :)

Great news. I found the battery. It was located "just in front of the rear door, on the driver's side, under the carpet". Thank you MEXICOWANDERER and DrewE for your suggestions.

Now I am working on the diagnosis. The battery I pulled out was an "Autocraft" marine starting battery. I was expecting to find a true deep cycle battery. I attached the multimeter and noted a reading of 3.70.

Do I need to switch the battery out for a true deep cycle battery?

This is a class B (van conversion).

May I beg everyone to be patient and let the OP handle this step-by-step? First find the battery then go from there. I have endless patience for folks who want to learn. :)

Yes we were dry camping. Since owning the rig I have not hooked up to shore power. I am concerned that the issue could also be the converter. I first want to test the battery. I'll be looking at the entry steps as MEXICOWANDERER suggested.

Were you dry camping ? Or at least no electrical hook-up ? I would be concerned about your converter not charging the battery and providing 12 vdc to power your lights also if you were connected to shore power.
