Where to find a slide out seal?

I need the sweeper seal that attaches to the side wall and sweeps the top of the slide as it goes in.

I found this on a few websites:

The issue is that the long dimension of the current seal is 1.625" not the 3.10 indicated in the pic.

Options:

1. Keep looking...anybody have any good sources for seals?
2. Buy this seal and trim it.
3. Install as is, maybe it will "sweep" better if it's longer?

2oldman, the slide is about 13' long, it's the main (and only LOL) slide with the couch and dinette. The seal that's there now doesn't actaully touch the roof of the slide and doesn't wipe diddly now...maybe a little longer wouldn't hurt
My 2001 Fleetwood (bought new) was the same way. In fact, there were no sweeper seals on the sides either. It only sealed in the totally closed or totally open position... Being as it was my first slide, I just thought they were all like that.. Now I think it was built that way on purpose. It worked well for the 10 years I had it, though pulling in the slide wet was a pain. Had to dry the roof with towels.

Maybe yours was built that way as well. If so, then a longer seal may not be a good idea??
  • Try Bondragers surplus in White Pigeon Mi. Close to Elkhart In. They have an incredible inventory. They have a web site and will direct mail.

The manufacture would be a good place to check.

Fleetwood went bust in 2009, they reformed under ARG as MH's only. I called their customer service number a few weeks back to see if I could get info on how the slide was constructed and figure out how to take it apart (water leak). They told me all the specs. plans, etc got 86'd.

    2. Possible. How many lineal feet you doing?
    3. Hard to say. I did my big 5er slide last summer. The new seal seemed to be a lot stiffer rubber than the old worn out seal. I can tell the slider motor is working harder to move the slide, and it's real noisy.

It took me awhile to get things to fit right - I wouldn't say this is the easiest DIY I've ever done. I had to spot-trim it in places where it was binding. Some of my trimmings are obvious to the eye - kinda ragged, and in many places water is not being wiped off because the stiffness forced me to have the blade tip just touching the slide surface. And that's tricky.
  • BTDT on all these sites....Artum, that pic above is actually from Pelland. Anybody else?
  • BTDT. (been there, done that.)

Try http://parkin-acc.com or the Uni-grip company.
