Which Battery??

Guys

I have at least 3 battery temp/sensor gages to mount, 2 for the MS MPPT CC and the other 1 for the Mag 2012 invertor.

I will have 4 batteries underneath the TH,and 2 batteries on the tongue. The tongue batteries will have a sensor gage attached to the neg side and the 2 other sensors will go to the main 4 battery bank.

I will be using the Smart gage balance system.

On WHICH neg battery does the sensors go????

Tia,
Don

The negative terminal is simply a convenient spot to bolt the sensor too. It's not electrically connected. A far better way to get an accurate temp. reading is to put the sensor between your batteries, about halfway down from the top. Some of them have adhesive that can be used to stick them to the side of a battery.

That's been my impression as well - you don't have to screw the sensor to any terminal. My controller manual just says "to a battery terminal or affixed to the side of a battery", and doesn't specify to what terminal. Quite lengthy and detailed manual, one of the best I ever saw, not some half-literate gabble in "Chineglish" from Amazon.

But, my learned friends here explained me that on a terminal is better because it will read the inside temperature more correctly there, and not just "a terminal" but a Neg terminal because it's hotter than Pos terminal, and it's preferable to err on the hotter side. Have to go with the flow...

With the sensor nestled down between your multiple batteries and in direct contact with the side of them you will get a better idea of their internal temperature.
