I have some screws in my Lance TC that don't tighten up properly and I would like to replace them with longer and maybe larger diameter screws. I cannot find any that are larger then #8 and none of them are the flat head, counter sunk screw like are now in there. I tried an internet search and have tried the McMaster-Carr website with no luck. Anyone found a source for these?Thanks!

maybe you're not searching for the correct term, they are called Robertson head. Very popular up here in Canada as we invented them I believe.

Nobody in the US will know that screw as a "Robertson" head. the term used here is an internal square drive head. the tools are common. Less so the screws.I find the easiest way to get these is to go to a smaller RV repair shop and buy some off of the guy. I have been to numerous Fastenal, Tacoma Screw and others and have yet to find them. But they can be ordered from RV parts suppliers by the hundreds.I often use in replacement a star drive screw if it is not on the outside of the body.As a last resort you might try to order them from McMaster-Carr.

I curse the inventor every time I have to use a Phillips screw, impossible to keep on the bit one handed at the end of a drill bit. No such issue with a Roberson.

I've never had a square drive screw strip unlike numerous Phillips. Square is by far my favored screw.

Contact a Leisure Travel Van dealer, that is all they use and in many colors.

I would suggest Phillips head instead of Robertson.. Most do not know the difference.

actually many of the phillips, which are more likely posi drive are very often a pozi drive robertson drive. they have a square in the center for a robertson bit, and then the posi drive superimposed on it.

X2, compared to square drive, Phillips is almost junk. YMMV.

An easier method (as alluded to before) is to remove the screw, take a round toothpick and dip it in some wood glue. Insert the toothpick into the hole, and let the glue dry. Re-drill the hole if necessary. Re-insert the screw. Job Done.
