I read the OP's post as a question regarding friends who are trying to "convince him" to go to GC220 batteries. Reality may argue for or against his friend's advice. Batteries that perform satisfactorily and get used perhaps a dozen cycles a year are in a category of their own. Yes, golf car batteries endure a lot more cycling. They can tolerate more abuse and not die as quickly when cycled a lot and recharged tardily or partially almost maybe. Go back and note the word -more-
But there is a time and a place for everything. Switching to GC batteries is not the easiest thing for many folks. In short a 10-ply tire is not appropriate for every wheelbarrow.
The OP needs to furnish a bit more info about usage before I would feel comfortable recommending a battery type IMHO
