Not true. Hybrid batteries are often labeled as "marine". With few exceptions, they are rarely labelled as "deep cycle", so it's easy to distinguish.
I doubt that people who have camped for a few years would keep a hybride as their "coach" battery, if they got it by mistake. Having said this - AGM hybrids by Optima have a solid reputation, and are rather expensive. Though they are small, low AH.
WalMart sells a "starting/deepcycle" 27DC, 120AH 850 MCA 675 CCA for about $100. ( I think intended as a trolling battery for fishing) I used this type for a few years and they worked ok while camping, but they were a total PITA to do a "recovery" on them at home after doing some 50-90s in a row while away camping with them.
I much prefer my 6s now, which make up a bank of the same AH, but are so easy to "recover" to baseline SG. This is because the 6s have more antimony (5%) and so gas easier, so they come up in SG real easy.
