For me, the main difference between typical 6v golf cart and typical 12v deep cycle batteries has been how long they last. 12v: 1-3 years. 6v: 7-10 (or more) years. My current Trojans are in their 11th year.
True deep cycle 12 volt batteries can be had... But they are rare, heavy and EXPENSIVE.
We use then in our floor scrubbing machines at work. I have never seen any of them needing replaced. I have seen the machines wear out with the original batteries in them.
