Now that most peoples eyes have glazed over, and they have lost interest...
It really doesn't have to be this technical for the vast majority of RVers.
The Smoke and Mirrors game has been going on in the battery industry for many years.
Back in the 70s we had a high school auto shop project where we dissected different warranty length batteries.
IE; a 1 year, 2year,3yr etc. They were identical except for the colors of the cases and the stickers on them. The longer warranty batteries would therefore last the same amount of times as the shorter ones.. The scam was that the longer warranty ones ensured repeat business as the consumer returned to the same place with his bad battery because he had "credit" coming.
The scams continue today, otherwise known as "marketing".
For most Rvers the simplest way to tell is weight. For standard FLA batteries, the heavier one is, the more lead it likely has in it, and the better/more likely it is to be a deep cycle. (size for size)
Price in a perfect world could be a indicator... But marketing has screwed that all up, as quite a few batteries are sold for more than they are worth.
