You have put a 6v battery in parallel in a 12v system.
You have hooked up a converter/charger that charges at 13.6v to 14.8v.
Running a 13.6v to 14.8v charger on a 6v battery WILL kill that battery.
What is shocking is that the battery lasted 3 years.
None of this applies to the pair of 6v batteries you have wired in series. They are, electrically speaking, a single 12v battery.
Nope. He put a 6V battery in series with a pair of paralleled 6V batteries. Total voltage is 12V but if all batteries are equal, the 2 parallel batteries only ever discharge 1/2 as far as the single one.
