Folks,
I have room for 3 large batteries. When I bought the rig and wanted to replace the batteries, I had access to company that sells and installs commercial batteries. The manager recommended the two 6 volts in parallel and one in series and yes it has worked fine with little water use over this period. The reason I did not ask for opinions is that I asked for feedback when first implementing and got a 50/50 pro/con response. We only dry camp and have only one 100 watt solar panel supporting this arrangement. We utilize an inverter for electric coffee pot, wife's hair dryer and TV every morning and night. Generator use is rarely needed as a supplemental to charge the batteries. So this "crazy" arrangement has worked pretty well.
I will agree that this may not be optimal so if that battery is cooked, I will throw a 12 volt in until the rest go. By then I will be in my DP and retired. Thanks for the feedback. Tim
