Thanks Bob, hadn't heard about the internal coupling. You're right about the clamp-on ammeter. With that and a decent DVOM, with mfd capability, the wiring diagram and the compressor labeling for Run Amps, Locked Rotor and Start Amps, we can do a goodly amount of troubleshooting.
Bob, what's Amperage when compressor is OK but Capacitor is shot? I'm thinking it's also Locked Rotor. Is that true?
