The Honda eu2000i has both a fuel petcock and the switch for the electronics both done by the same knob. Some people have split the functionality off, others have just closed the air vent on the gas cap, which kept the fuel from getting to the carb bowl.
Don't get me wrong; Yamahas are great generators, mine lasted for a long time and worked flawlessly. However parts are not easy to find, I wound up ordering from an online shop, paying more for shipping than the components themselves, and service... I've yet to find a place in central Texas which does anything but sell Yamaha generators.
Hondas, on the other hand, you can be almost anywhere, and you can find someone with the knowledge to fix the eu2000i models. Parts grow off of trees for them (relatively.)
I'd go with a pair of Honda twins and a pairing kit.
