Window Tint Film And Solar Heat Issues

I first became aware of this watching the Apollo astronauts.

They used gold reflective material inside their helmet viewports.

Is there a good product available that cuts down solar ray heating but does not butcher visibility from the inside? Newer cars have dark windows but for my old eyes when given a ride sundown looked like midnight.

    WE used a light limo tint for our old motorhome windows. Lasted for at least 10 years that we had it. Really did help. The challenge is getting it smooth without bubbles. We purchased it at home depot maybe 15 years ago - window tinting. The darker you go the more light and heat you keep out. While we could still see out very well during the day, just somewhat darker, at night things tended to reflect back into the room. It was a cheap fix for us.

    Yes 3M has several window treatment products that both reduce heat and UV rays. They come in almost clear to tinted degrees of coloration.
