Winegard Antenna mechanical issue

Standard Winegard crank up antenna with the HD batwing installed. Worked great until today, now the antenna will not crank up....almost seems like its frozen. It says to "lube 2x per year" but not where...where do you access the gears to lube?> From inside or on the roof?

  • Thanks guys, the worm gear was fine. Got up on the roof and squirted some teflon lube in there and it works great now!
  • You will have to disconnect the two arm that hold the antenna. The arms are connected wit removable pins secured with small lock clips. Make sure you don't loose the small lock clips for the pins. When you pull the arms out of the holders you will see the plastic gear rack. Repair kits can be obtained at most RV Dealers or Internet.
  • good info on lubing, I will give it a shot while i am up there changing the head.:C
  • It's also possible that the worm gear is broken (just plastic) - replacement of the gear isn't expensive and installation is pretty easy.
