The DC power applied to the coax by the receiver is used for the LNB antenna and is 2 different voltages depending upon channel selection.
The manual implies that the unit needs the additional 12V power to switch between satellites. So apparently the OP moved or is trying to access different channels and now needs to leave the unit plugged into 12V for the motor.
