What we have here is lack of communication. He clearly has Direct TV and not Dish. All channels on DTV are on one bird except locals. His locals are not being spot beamed to him. Whereas Dish channels are on a couple of birds. He does not have High Def. Therefore he can disconnect his 12 volt after finding the bird without loss of programing. All this discussion has not helped him with his problem. Just so you know I do the same thing. I set up the Carryout locate the bird then disconnect the 12 volt. One less wire to trip on. One less power drain, One less wire to break.
His post suggests it is not a local problem.
