No reason to keep the display on and yes, it does draw a few mA so it will run the battery down faster.

Someone ask about HD or analog in Q.. that is up to the broadcasters, not your antenna.

Someone commented on the default gain being 10 and you can turn it up to 20

I assumed 10 was "Unity" (that is zero db gain)

Less than 10 is negative gain (In case you are close and the signals are too strong) greater than 1q0 is positive gain (WHich I need here)

One other thing that I didn't find in the instruction manual is about the gain setting, at least in my older manual. The default gain is 10 which I assumed was the max. In reality, the gain can be set all the way up to 20.

In this respect it is identical to the wall plate it replaced.

YOu can turn it off (Set to Cable mode and if the LED is lit 2 minutes later its off. if the LED is not lit, it's off already, or as off as it gets)

That can be a problem the Sensar Pro outputs 12 volt (Well battery voltage) to the mast head pre-amp... Many Home type TV antennas present as a dead short at DC.. Apparently yours did not or...
The combiner blocked the DC (That can happen too)

I spent $1.99 for TV Antenna Helper App on Google Play Store. SCVJeff told me about it, and so far, it works great, even up at Flaming Gorge, pointed towards Rock Springs, WY.

Wouldn't putting it in cable mode disable the amp, thus the power drain?

The SensarPro manual puts it this way:

"When the SensarPro is set for PARK CABLE, it is, in essence, off. The park cable system connection will press through the wall plate without interference from the SensarPro amplifier."

I guess I should have said, "display goes out" because I knew the amp din't go off, or the signal would quit.

For niner,.....quit pretending like ya don't know how to install the same plug next to it.:)
