Winegard Sensar Pro

I replaced our older TV signal meter with a new “Winegard Sensar Pro”. The reason was one our two TV’s didn’t work well with the antenna. Now both TV’s work great on the air antenna, but when hooked up to cable “one” TV get’s poor reception, better on the upper channels, but almost nothing on the lower channels.

The older signal meter had three cable hook ups, one for the antenna, one for cable, both incoming and one outgoing that goes to a splitter in another part of the rig. The new one has four hook ups and there I think is the problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks
  • Try reading the manual or instructions that came with it. Should be pictures on how to connect it.

I installed my Sensar Pro about a month ago and as I recall, it has a coax connection for antenna, cable, TV1 and TV2, so yes, 4 as you say. Sounds like you might have the antenna and cable connection reversed so re-check everything as it sounds like you have one of the cables hooked up wrong. My Sensar Pro works great btw, highly recommended.
  • I just updated to the Sensar Pro myself. My old unit had the typical Coax out on the front of the plate, a cable in on the back, an antenna in on the back, and a TV2 out on the back. The TV2 out went to a splitter just as your does, but mine was right there and so I connected the two outs from the splitter to the tv1,tv2 outs of the new unit. If you can get to you splitter, the if you connected either tv1, tv2 out to the cable that goes to the splitter, you should have things hooked up.

One thing to check, your old unit had a button you pressed to turn on the power to the antenna. The Sensar Pro does not have that same, simple deal. You have to cycle thru the settings until is light next to Park Cable is illuminated. Did you do that?

And lastly how was the cable reception before at this site? Could it be poor cable service? Have you checked the external connection for corrosion?
  • Your confusion may come from the fact that your RV may be wired for: antenna, cable, and satellite (prewired).

Make sure you are only connecting to Antenna and Cable coaxial cables. I have noted that campgrounds use different type of cable systems. Also; some brands of television sets work differently on cable.

My newest set (2013) needs to be connected directly to the outside cable box. It does not work going through the outside connection on RV (going through walls and switch-box to TV). The older HD TV (2007) worked that way.

Uh, the standard Winegard wall plate is NOT signal meter, it has inputs for Cable, And OTA, and outputs (one or two) on the back for the remote TV(s) and one on the front usually for the MAIN TV

The Sensar Pro has Two inputs and Two outputs (Same as the standard switch/power supply) but all are on the back and all are clearly labeled.

That said, I do not use the cable in on mine I have added a couple of down line splitters though. Originally each output ran direct to a digital converter, But as I improved things I ran one to the matrix switch and the other to a splitter, I can now do TV magic,
  • One item to note on the Sensar Pro is that the default gain setting of "10" does not give you the full 10dB amplification. The gain setting actually goes up to "20" to get the full benefit.
  • The setting of 10 on a SP is zero added amplification. Going below 10 will attenuate the signal and going above 10 will amplify the signal.
  • Found out the problem was a bad splitter, replaced it and all is working great.

I had that problem for like 2 years, FOrgot the splitter was in that line,,, Same result when I found it,, this was before I got the Sensar Pro.

Love that thing, great aid in aiming and really brings 'em in too.
