I would remove it and use the trickle charger. Cheap operation and will be more than adequate to keep it charged.
Actually, a good battery, fully charged will keep its charge for months at a time with little loss of amperage. My '57 Ford keeps it charge for 6 months at a time between starting. My golf cart (gas) battery keeps it charge for 8 months between use every year without the use of a charger.
