Winterizing Black Tank Rinser

So do I just blow it out with an air compressor or rig up a way to pump pink stuff through the line?

  • Exactly Bumpy,
the physics maybe at work but I don't know if there is a quality controlled building process to go along with it.
I don't think the builders put any effort into ensuring the hoses are supported and angled to ensure all water drains out.
In the end its the luck of the draw and a gamble.
Blowing lines will be very beneficial. The pink stuff is foolproof.

    No just trusting physics....

but you are trusting physics and also trusting that the RV manufacturer constructs these things with a certain degree of precision, which they don't. last I checked on my rinser, it was hooked up with a flexible hose that was not sloped to drain.

Blowing out should be sufficient, however I can easily pump antifreeze into the black tank flushers using my outside faucet via the convenience center.

This is the way I do it. A short hose from the outside shower faucet to the black tank flush inlet does the trick.

  • Never have I winterized....full of holes, self draining...
  • I blow air in mine but I think most are self draining into the tank or back out the line when hose disconnected. Most usually have the feed line routed above the tank into a wall panel with a vacuum breaker or backflow preventer at the high point of the line. Randu

  • We just blew it out...any water should have gone into tank which was drained.
