A fan for air or a fan for the soothing noise. A 12 volt muffin fan is small, moves air and is a fraction of the size of a truck fan or even a Fantastic Endless Breeze. Most of these fans are square so no mount is needed and many push a lot of air for 10 watts, under one ampere is consumption. In the morning open the drawer and in it goes.
surpluscenter.com has a lot of these fans in various sizes. Inexpensive. Use the scroll menu on the left to navigate. A 10 watt fan makes a nice soft whooshing sound and pushes enough air to satisfy a person unless you must have air blowing on your ears and toes.
In Mexico I used to use one of these fans with a blue light just behind it to suck in flying critters and macerate them out on the patio.
