I think much of the fear of overvolting an AGM is only relevant with a huge charging source when applied to a very depleted battery bank, that can skyrocket voltage past normal absorption voltage while still less than 75% charged.
While My Northstar AGM is a different animal than A telecom battery, I feel that achieving Absorption voltage quickly at the stated maximum amperage (if any) from the most depleted state, then holding Vabs until amps taper to 0.5% of capacity, then floating for another 6+ Hours is the performance reset.
I will intentionally take mine to well below 50% just so it can take high amperage for longer. Allowing solar an hour or 2 before high amperage is applied is a big a NoNO when a performance reset is required.
I've not done anything close to lifeline's reconditioning procedure( 8 hours of 15.5v after a normal full charge), Nor Odyssey's (drain battery quickly to 10V Apply 40% until 14.7v an amps taper to near Zero, repeat).
My 14.8v + ventures on my Northstar were very brief, just to see what amps tapered to, if they still tapered to 0.0X when full. Also when first getting to 14.7v, bumping to 15.5v only increases amps very marginally. So total Wattage might increase 5%, total amperage increases much less.
Lifeline says their battery ends will go from concave to convex when absorption charging. Can you notice this on youe telecom batteries? My Northstar has a thick plastic grid on the edges, and I have not laid eyes on it for a long time now.
I am likely now in the 475 deep cycle range, and can detect no voltage decrease in my overnight usage. the only indicators are increased times for amps to taper to 0.5% and lesser amps required to achieve Absorption voltage, and less quick engine starting. But overnight loads, I can take 45AH from it's new 90AH, and still read well over 12.2v.
I've quit bothering to judge its health by voltage held overnight or reading morning voltage as it has not changed in 475 deep cycles over 38 months. Was certainly mind boggling after watching morning voltage degrade with many sets of aging flooded batteries.
But granted, I could not charge those as well as I could now.
