Working on my solar plan - need battery input, please

So, my solar panels are scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I'm trying to get all the rest of the major pieces ordered and/or selected.

This question is focused on batteries (but I may have many more!). I was recommended two Crown 6V 220AH batteries to fit in the battery box under the step on my Class C. However, using the Crown and Trojan catalogs, it looks like 6V batteries from these manufacturers are all >10" high which is the height of my battery box. The chart I found providing a summary of battery sizes only shows one size for 6V batteries (GC2) which is way taller than my battery box at 12.88".

Am I overlooking something? Or does this mean I need to stick with 12V batteries? My battery box is about 19"L x 12 7/8"W x 10"H.
  • Here's my battery box for reference:

Not sure modifying it is going to be in the current plan...
  • Choices:

Modify cabinet to provide additional height for GC-220 batteries

Check out the price and availability of a single AGM battery, size 8-D.
  • 10" high is too shallow for many batteries. I guess you're going to be limited to what fits.
