Xantrex inverterg/charger shows full charge at 12.2V

I have a Xantrex RV3102GS inverter / charger (with Xantrex RC/GS remote control panel) and it's working fine except that charging doesn't work great. At around 12.2V it's showing 'batteries full' and...

start with the battry cables both positive and negative

corrosion on the cables will increase resistance, this causes reduced charge current and a voltage drop at the corrosion

the charger can be putting out 13+ volts but the batteries will not 'see it' and get a reduced voltage
