At 7:45 this morning I pulled the battery negative and left it for 2 hours as suggested. The AC had already been removed from the inverter since I had bypassed it yesterday.
After the two hours had passed I rewired the Xantrex into place again and reconnected the battery ground. Back to where I had started. Rewired the AC lines again (bypassing the inverter again).
So we have 120VAC in the rig and of course 12VDC but no inverter and no battery charger other than the Canadian Tire 40A charger that I will connect if and when it is required.
We have 484 AH of battery with 420 Watts of solar panel but they don't get the sun until about 8:30AM and begin to get shaded at about noon, most of the sun gone by 3:00PM . Our DC load is the fridge board, lights which are pretty much all LED, the water pump and the big load: 2 Maxx Fans that run whenever the heat pump isn't cooling us--which means from about 8:00PM until 10:00 or 11:00 AM.
So now we have to investigate a new inverter as well as decide what to do about the fridge.
