I dumped my Xantrex PS1800 with transfer switch when it failed. Replaced with stand alone Go Power inverter (2000w sw) and separate Progressive Dynamics transfer switch. Battery is charged by solar since install. I do have a converter to switch on if needed. Way prefer separate components.
You have plenty of room for all this. Possibly move the inverter down for more ventilation and use the top shelf for the cord and provisions.
I probably posted the same the first time you had trouble. Picture looks familiar ;)
Yes that picture is from a post on our blog from January 2014. What isn't in the photo is the new solar controller which is now on the left side just behind the light and the rest of the 20' 50Amp cord which exits from the middle of the bottom of the cabinet so the inverter can't go down there.
The shelf could be moved down a little but coiling that 50A cable when the temps are below 20C is a real struggle. The 30A amp and the #12 extensions and the other things are now carried elsewhere.
I really love the features of the Prosine 2.0, I just wish they would last longer!
-Excellent range of user set charge parameters, including max current up to 100Amps.
-Excellent selection of voltage protection; High and low AC limits and frequency, Cuts power to the rig if out of user set limits.--This is the big one for us. It gives us protection. When in Mexico with often variable shore power we leave the invert function on and it seamlessly switches between shore power and invert as needed. The satellite receiver and TV don't even blink during the transfer.
All in a nice small package. We're in a 32' DP and spend a lot of time here--5 to 6 months each year and carry a lot of stuff to make out stays more comfortable.
There are a couple of good electronic tech at home, I might see if they are interested.
And of course with what the Canadian dollar is doing these days having anything done or even buying anything in or from the USA adds at the moment 45% to the cost. A $1,000.00 inverter becomes $1,450.00 Then there is the charger, transfer switch etc etc then add import duty. . . :E
