Anything with cooling fans require at least yearly attention to blow out the dust and dirt and check the fan for easy rotation. Not sure why manufacturers put in fans guess it's less costly than properly designing a unit that can convenction cool. Moving parts including fans typically cause problems before anything else.
If the unit works for a short duration before tossing out the defective code then you do not need a new unit - it needs to be cleaned up - get rid of the dust and dirt - a good air compressor will do the job a vacuum will not work
