Yamaha 2400 isHC powering RVP Air Conditioner

Our Jayco 19h's AC unit cannot be started using our Yahmaha 2400 isHC inverter generator.

After reading many threads about hard start capacitors and start relays, I came across a thread from a few years ago that references a Coleman Start Kit that was Capacitor plus PTCR (the real start relay is part number 1497-4131 for the relay, 1497-0891 for the capacitor).

My ac model number is 8333D8564 which believe indicates no hard start kit was installed as shipped from factory.

If the above referenced parts are available, is this still the best modification for ac performance with my Yamaha 2400 ishc?

Edited to add detail
  • I tried it here in Havasu at 106 degree's. Hard start kit and timer everything off and it would not start my 13.5 AC. I was very disapointed! Chino
  • Something doesn't sound right. I can run my ac and microwave at the same time with my 2400.
  • I tried everything to run my AC with a 2400 and nothing worked. Good luck! Chino
  • Also you may want to disable the power converter or disconnect the batteries when trying to start AC. If batteries are low the converter could draw more than 500 watts. Refrig on gas. In worst case scenario you could shed 700 800 watts that way.
  • You can't go wrong with a start kit.
Even if it's not enough help for the genny it takes a load off the unit when on shore power.
    Good Luck, Mike
